A wave of protest broke out over the past day after a sharply worded article attacking the State of Israel and its security forces was posted on the official website of Ben-Gurion University. The article, written by former lecturer Neve Gordon, who now lives in London, leveled serious accusations against the IDF and claimed that the state is carrying out genocide in the Gaza Strip, exploiting international law to harm civilians, and using them as human shields.

The NGO Im Tirtzu responded to the incident with shock. The organization’s CEO, Matan Peleg, stressed that "This is not the first case at the university; it has to stop." According to him, "While they employ lecturers who support terror and oppose the IDF, they claim it is only a technical error." Peleg mentioned additional faculty members who he says have smeared the army, including lecturer Sebastian Ben Daniel, who called IDF soldiers murderers, and made clear: "It is time to put an end to this."

The remarks sparked intense anger among many students and reserve soldiers studying at the academic institution in the Negev. One fighter who served on the front told Channel 14’s website: "As a fighter who served in both Gaza and Lebanon, I saw that in Gaza every house is a house of terrorists. So I, as a fighter and as a reservist, when there are also many reservists at Ben-Gurion University, am shocked that this is what it chose to share. Unreal. When will they put an end to this?"

The university administration said the source of the publication was a technological failure in the content system, not a deliberate initiative by the institution. Ben-Gurion University’s response: "The automated system that pulls articles by university faculty members mistakenly identified the author as one, even though he has not been part of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev for nearly a decade. The error has been corrected."
