After a nearly weeklong manhunt, police spokespersons announced today (Friday) that Border Police fighters from the Jerusalem envelope unit closed the circle overnight and arrested a terror suspect accused of throwing an improvised explosive device toward the Rachel’s Tomb compound.
The suspect had been wanted for a week after the device was thrown while Jewish worshippers were at the site. Miraculously, no one was hurt, and police said this was an incident that "posed a real danger to the civilian public and the worshippers visiting the compound."
During the overnight operation, Border Police fighters arrived at the suspect’s home in the Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem, located him, and arrested him without unusual incident. The suspect, a 17-year-old resident of the camp, was transferred for further investigation by the Shin Bet.
