Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting Tuesday evening with members of the diplomatic-security cabinet. Before the discussion, Netanyahu released a brief statement: "At my instruction and that of the defense minister, together with the IDF chief of staff, we are expanding our operation in Lebanon. The IDF is operating with large forces on the ground and taking control of strategic areas. We are fortifying the security zone to protect the communities of the north."

"At the same time, we are carrying out a massive national effort to advance creative and innovative solutions against explosive drones. We stand behind and praise our heroic commanders and soldiers. They are deep inside the field. We are counting on you!"

Earlier today, it was reported that IDF forces are operating beyond the Litani River and effectively beyond the Yellow Line of defense in southern Lebanon. The goal: to push Hezbollah terrorists farther away and damage their ability to launch explosive drones, which can reach distances of about 30 kilometers.

Meanwhile, despite the nearly nonstop launches from southern Lebanon toward the frontline communities, the IDF announced that Home Front Command defensive guidelines will remain unchanged and will stay in effect until Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

The guideline area covering the confrontation line and the communities of Meron, Bar Yochai, Or HaGanuz, and Safsufa will remain at the partial activity level, with no change. Gatherings and services in open areas will be permitted for up to 50 people, and indoors for up to 200 people, instead of 200 people in open areas and 600 people indoors. Educational activities will remain unchanged, except in communities specifically excluded in the defensive policy document.
