"Our son had reached the age of marriage and was actively dating. Various suggestions came and went, but a wedding still seemed far away. It was very painful for us, and especially for our dear son.
"About two months ago, a wonderful match was suggested. Things began progressing, and the two met several times. Then we received the news that the match would not continue. This time, our son was truly heartbroken.
"We decided it was time to take him on a short vacation to help him relax and clear his mind.
"It was at the beginning of the Hebrew month of Iyar, and we chose to travel to Hungary. We did so with the guidance of a respected rabbi, who felt that under the circumstances a brief trip would help relieve the stress and emotional pressure our son was experiencing.
"We contacted a travel agent and booked three plane tickets — for my wife, my son, and myself, as well as a hotel room for two nights."
An Unexpected Encounter
"We arrived at the hotel, settled in, and prepared to go out and explore the area. Then, to our astonishment, we saw none other than the parents and daughter our son had been dating — the very same young woman who had decided not to continue the match.
"They too, it turned out, had come away for a short break, and their rooms were located right near ours.
"There is no need to describe how uncomfortable the situation felt. We had planned to stay there for two days, and instead of helping our son relax, this unexpected encounter seemed likely to create even more tension."
Trying to Escape the Situation
"We immediately called the travel agent and asked him to find us another hotel farther away.
"Thankfully, he agreed, and we moved to a different hotel. It was quite a hassle transporting all our luggage, but we felt we had no choice.
"After settling into the new hotel, we went out for a walk.
"And then it happened again.
"Unbelievably, we ran into the same family once more.
"It turned out that they too had felt uncomfortable and had also requested a transfer to another hotel. By pure coincidence — or perhaps not, they ended up staying near us again."
When the Ice Began to Melt
"This time there was nowhere left to run.
"We began speaking with the other family, and gradually the awkwardness faded. Conversations became easier, and the tension between the families disappeared.
"Eventually, both sides agreed that perhaps the match deserved another chance.
"During those two days in Hungary, something remarkable happened. The connection was renewed, and the young man and young woman decided that they did, in fact, want to marry each other."
A Lesson in Divine Providence
The parents concluded:
"This experience taught us a powerful lesson. When a match is meant to happen, it will happen.
"We traveled all the way to Hungary, hoping to get away from the disappointment. Yet the match seemed to follow us there.
"We changed hotels in an effort to avoid an uncomfortable situation, and somehow the same family ended up near us again.
"It reminded us that ultimately, God is the One who brings people together. We can make plans, travel, and even try to run away from situations, but what is destined to happen will find its way to us.
"In the end, everything is in His hands."
