Eggs are a highly nutritious source of protein, but in the past, parents were often advised to avoid introducing them to babies under one year of age due to concerns about allergic reactions.
Today, updated guidelines suggest that babies can be introduced to eggs earlier, provided they are fully cooked and offered according to the recommendations of a pediatric healthcare provider or child health nurse.
For parents who prefer to avoid eggs — or if a baby shows sensitivity to them, there are several healthy alternatives that help bind ingredients together while creating a soft, baby-friendly texture.
Healthy Egg Alternatives for Baby Meatballs
Sweet Potato or Potato Purée
Helps bind the ingredients while adding natural sweetness and extra nutrients.
Oat Flour Mixed with Water
Creates a sticky texture that holds the mixture together effectively.
Mashed Chickpeas or Tahini
Adds protein, healthy fats, and valuable nutrients while improving texture.
These alternatives not only replace eggs but also boost the nutritional value of the meatballs.
