Every day presents new opportunities to strengthen our connection to Hashem through learning, prayer, and spiritual growth. Here are two practical halachot from the book Halacha Lemaaseh by Rabbi Yaron Ashkenazi shlita, based on the rulings of Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l, along with a special prayer for protection and an inspiring message to carry with you throughout the day.

If a Woman Cannot Pray the Entire Morning Service, What Should She Prioritize?

A woman who is able to recite the entire Shacharit service should ideally do so. However, if circumstances do not allow her to pray the full service, the following order of priority should be followed:

1. The morning blessings, beginning with Al Netilat Yadayim and continuing through the blessings over Torah study, together with one personal request from the depths of her heart in her own words.

2. If she has additional time, she should add the Shemoneh Esrei.

3. If she is able to pray more, she should recite Kriat Shema.

4. If she has further time, she should say the blessings of Kriat Shema.

5. If she can continue, she should recite Baruch She'amar, Pesukei D'zimra, and Yishtabach, without mentioning Hashem's Name and Kingship in the closing blessings.

Does She Need Hatarat Nedarim if She Cannot Maintain an Extra Prayer Practice?

What if a woman has accepted upon herself the practice of praying two or even three times a day, but occasionally finds herself unable to do so because of circumstances beyond her control?

If she intends to continue the practice and only misses it from time to time due to unavoidable circumstances, this is not considered a violation of a vow, and she does not need to perform hatarat nedarim.

However, if she no longer wishes to continue the practice because of a busy schedule or any other reason, she should perform hatarat nedarim before discontinuing it.

Today's Spiritual Practice

Someone walking alone at night can recite the following prayer for special protection:

"In the Name of Hashem, the God of Israel: at my right is Michael and at my left is Gabriel, before me Uriel, behind me Raphael, and above my head the Divine Presence of God."

Tehillim of the Day: Chapter 121

This beloved chapter reminds us that true protection comes only from Hashem:

I lift my eyes to the mountains. From where will my help come?

My help comes from Hashem, Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot falter; your Guardian will not slumber.

Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

Hashem is your Guardian; Hashem is your shade at your right hand.

By day, the sun will not strike you, nor the moon at night.

Hashem will guard you from all harm; He will guard your soul.

Hashem will guard your going out and your coming in, from now and forever.
