The New York Post reported today (Tuesday) that the FBI thwarted in advance last week an explosive drone attack that had been planned against the UFC event held two days ago on the White House lawn.

According to the report, intelligence was received on the 10th of the month about plans to carry out a terrorist attack. Within two days, a list of the cell members involved in planning the attack was uncovered. All five members were arrested, one in Cincinnati and the others in Virginia. According to the report, security officials also have 23 additional suspects who appeared in the detainees’ contact lists. Some of those 23 were detained for questioning on suspicion of assisting.

The planned terror attack involved the use of explosive drones meant to strike buildings near the event, which would have driven the fleeing crowd toward a team of snipers positioned to trap them. A second wave of attackers then planned to storm the White House gate.

It should be noted that President Donald Trump was also present at the large-scale event. The high-profile combat sports event took place alongside the president’s 80th birthday, and about 4,300 people attended.

One of the main suspects in the case said during questioning that the goal of the attack was to target "capitalist elites," "billionaires," and politicians who received money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

"Thanks to the swift action of this FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, several individuals are now in custody and planned attacks were allegedly completely stopped," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement to Fox News.
