Three days after the double earthquake that struck Venezuela, and today (*Shabbat*), Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodriguez said that the death toll in the disaster has risen to 1,430. He also said that the number of injured now stands at 3,238.

According to him, about 25,000 people are missing, but because communications are poor in some areas, this may not necessarily mean they are no longer alive. The government in Caracas updated that hundreds of buildings collapsed in the major cities hit by the earthquake, La Guaira and Caracas. Some 6.76 million citizens were affected by the damage to homes.

So far, 17 countries have sent equipment as well as rescue and medical teams to Venezuela. In total, about 1,600 rescuers from those countries arrived in the country over the weekend, including the United States, Spain, Mexico, Switzerland, Chile, Colombia, the Netherlands, Italy, Ecuador, Qatar, and Argentina.
