IDF Clears for Release: Capt. David Hazut, 21, Killed in Combat in Southern Lebanon
Capt. David Hazut, 21, of Ashkelon, a platoon commander in Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, was killed in combat with a terrorist in southern Lebanon. Another soldier was lightly wounded in the incident. The terrorist managed to flee the scene.

The fallen soldier:
Capt. David Hazut, 21, of Ashkelon, a platoon commander in Battalion 12 of the Golani Brigade, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. הי"ד. The officer lost his father at age 16. He is survived by his mother and sister. He will be laid to rest today at 5:00 p.m. at the military cemetery in Ashkelon.
The IDF Spokesperson said that in the incident in which Capt. Hazut was killed, another IDF soldier was lightly wounded. The soldier was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been informed.
The incident in which the officer was killed and the soldier was wounded took place at around 2 a.m. Golani troops encountered a Hezbollah terrorist when they entered to investigate a suspicious presence in the area of Deir Siriane in southern Lebanon. After the encounter, the forces began searching for the terrorist, who fled, and targets in the area were struck. The manhunt for the terrorist is ongoing.
As previously reported, seven soldiers who were killed in the fighting in Lebanon were laid to rest last week. Lt. Col. Dor Ben Simchon, commander of Battalion 52, was killed alongside three of his soldiers in a tank explosion: Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshush, Staff Sgt. Liav Kabavia, and Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein. Sgt. First Class Alexander Pilin, 29, was killed in an explosive device blast in the village of a-Taybeh; Sgt. First Class Nir Ben Ari, 21, was killed by Hezbollah rocket fire and explosive drones; and Master Sgt. (res.) Basel Suaid, 32, was killed when a military fuel truck overturned.
