Qatar Confirms: No High-Level U.S.-Iran Meeting Will Take Place in Doha
U.S. representatives for the talks with Iran, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arrived in Doha, Qatar’s capital. But contrary to President Donald Trump’s statement that a meeting would be held with senior Iranian officials, Qatari officials confirmed that no such meeting will take place, and each side will speak separately with the mediators.

Witkoff (Photo: Shutterstock)Qatar’s Foreign Ministry confirmed Tuesday afternoon that no meeting will take place between Tehran and Washington as part of the negotiations between the two countries. In doing so, the Qataris effectively confirmed the Iranians’ statement from last night that they are not willing to hold talks in Doha with the American delegation.
According to Qatar’s announcement, the American representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will meet in Doha with representatives of the mediating countries, Qatar and Pakistan.
As previously reported, Iran yesterday denied the reports coming from the U.S. about renewed talks between the sides. U.S. President Donald Trump said yesterday that a meeting was expected to take place today in Doha, which he said was being held at Tehran’s own request.
According to a report by Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, Iranian officials said that no meeting had been scheduled between Iranian and American representatives in Doha, despite Trump’s statements. A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said, "We will not hold any negotiation meetings in the coming days, at any level, with the American side. The fact that American representatives are traveling to Qatar is unrelated to the travel of the Iranian delegation."
