According to CENTCOM, the strikes continued for approximately five hours.
In a statement, CENTCOM said: "U.S. forces successfully struck military targets across Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, in order to further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping."
The statement added that American forces used precision-guided munitions to target coastal defense systems, missile sites, drone infrastructure, and Iranian naval capabilities.
"More than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed throughout the Middle East. U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready. These strikes will continue to impose significant costs on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to target innocent civilians and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."
U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on the operation.
"The memorandum of understanding was a test, and they failed to honor it," Trump said. "These strikes are aimed at Iranian capabilities connected to the Strait of Hormuz. We are eliminating their offensive capabilities. The strait is open, and it will remain open. We have significantly reduced their capabilities, but they will continue fighting for some time."
Iran Launches Missiles at Gulf States
In response to the strikes, Iran launched missiles toward the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that naval and aerospace forces carried out missile and drone attacks against the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
According to the IRGC, the attacks ignited the fleet's fuel storage facilities and destroyed a Patriot radar system, naval air surveillance radar, an early-warning C-RAM radar system, and the command-and-control center for unmanned vessels.
Meanwhile, the Iranian military announced that it had also struck communications systems, fuel storage facilities, a Patriot missile system, an air traffic control tower, and an ammunition depot belonging to the U.S. military in Kuwait.
Tankers Hit Near the Strait of Hormuz
The UAE Ministry of Defense reported overnight that two oil tankers were struck by two Iranian cruise missiles in the southern Strait of Hormuz.
One Indian crew member was killed, while eight others were injured, including four who were reported to be in serious condition. The attack occurred in Oman's territorial waters.
Iran defended the incident, claiming the "aggressive" tankers had ignored repeated warnings, switched off their navigation systems, and attempted to pass through a mined shipping lane.
Iranian officials warned that: "Cooperation with the aggressive enemy in the Strait of Hormuz will delay the reopening of the maritime route and create a global energy crisis."
Separately, the Jordanian military announced that it had intercepted four missiles that entered the country's airspace.
