U.S. President Donald Trump commented today (Monday) on the strikes in Iran during a telephone interview with Fox News, stating that the United States intends to take control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and charge ships for passing through it.

"There was a deal, and Iran broke it. They will pay compensation," Trump said. "We're taking over the Strait of Hormuz, and we will be paid for passage through it."

He added, "Iran is run by bad people. Iran's leaders are professional negotiators."

Trump went on to say that despite Iran's negotiating abilities, the country chose to violate the agreements that had been reached. "Iran got nothing from me," he said.

He also declared, "We're taking everything from Iran — oil, gold, land, food. Everything belongs to the United States."

Trump further claimed that "most of Iran's leaders have been killed. Khamenei has been eliminated. His son is 90 percent eliminated."

"We'll Be the Guardian Angel of the Strait"

Trump continued, "We hit them very hard last night. Every time they launch a drone, we strike them with tremendous force."

He added, "We had an agreement, and nobody knows this. Everything had already been finalized, and then they broke it. They always break agreements. We've already had ten agreements with these people. So we're going to hit them very hard, and we'll continue to control the strait. We'll probably manage it as well. We'll become the guardians of the strait. Maybe we'll call ourselves the 'Guardian Angel of the Strait.'"

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters responded sharply to Trump's remarks, declaring: "We will not allow America to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz. The leaders of countries in the region are warned that any cooperation with the United States or logistical support for the attacking military will be regarded as an act of war against Iran's sovereignty and national security. If the war spreads throughout the region, the flames of war will engulf every country in the area."
