In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused Pillay of harboring hostility toward Israel and argued that his own diplomatic achievements justified awarding the United States eight Nobel Peace Prizes under his leadership.
Pillay previously chaired a United Nations Human Rights Council commission of inquiry that accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Israel rejected the commission's findings.
“I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anybody else!” Trump wrote. “In fact, to the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever heard of her, other than the fact that she very clearly hates Israel.”
Trump Claims Credit for Ending Eight Wars
The U.S. president listed several conflicts that he claimed to have brought to an end, including the wars between Israel and Iran, Israel and Hamas, the confrontation between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Trump said he was also working to resolve tensions involving Iran and to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“I ended eight wars, and letters were sent by every president and prime minister of the countries I helped to the Norwegian Nobel Committee,” he stated.
Criticism of the United Nations and Nobel Committee
Trump also highlighted his administration's actions against Iran's nuclear program and its efforts to secure the return of Israeli hostages. He referred specifically to the final 28 hostages, both living and deceased, whose return he said had been facilitated through cooperation with Hamas.
The president went on to criticize the United Nations, claiming that the organization had failed to assist him in his efforts to end international conflicts.
Turning his criticism toward the Nobel Committee, Trump declared, “This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten.”
He concluded with a strongly worded attack on the committee's members.
“The Nobel ‘Peace’ Prize has lost its credibility forever because of a handful of radical ideologues who oppose democracy and are enemies of civilization!”
The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize was officially awarded to Pillay on October 9 for her work promoting peace and international law. Trump's criticism was reported on October 10. His claims about ending eight wars remain disputed.
