Iran Rebuilding Missile and Drone Capabilities as Israel Weighs Renewed Strikes
Reports suggest Israel could face another round of conflict with Iran as Tehran works to restore missile production and replenish weapons stockpiles.
(Credit: unsplash)Israel is preparing for the possibility that its military campaign against Iran could resume even before the Knesset elections, amid intelligence indicating that the Iranian regime is accelerating efforts to restore its missile and drone production capabilities. Kan News reported this on Saturday night, following continued Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.
According to the report, one scenario under consideration is that U.S. President Donald Trump could order the resumption of strikes against Iran. Another possibility is that the U.S. administration could give Israel the "green light" to carry out independent military action, potentially affecting the timing of Israel's elections. However, an Israeli official estimated that the likelihood of an Israeli strike before the elections remains low.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported, citing Western officials familiar with the matter, that despite months of Israeli and American strikes, Iran has managed to preserve infrastructure and factories used to produce missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The officials, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information, estimated that Tehran is capable of producing new weapons and replenishing stockpiles damaged during the war. One official noted that Iran still possesses a significant inventory of ballistic missiles and anti-ship weapons, which it could rapidly expand.
Another Western official claimed that Russia is supplying missiles to Iran, consistent with intelligence assessments published in June regarding the arrival of new Russian weapons. Russia's Defense Ministry did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment, and the reported missile transfers have not been officially confirmed.
