Loud explosions were heard on Saturday at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. According to a Reuters report, numerous people were injured in the incident.

The Associated Press (AP), citing a regional official familiar with the incident, reported that a missile struck the area near Terminals 3 and 4, which serve domestic flights, leaving many people injured.

Eyewitnesses told Reuters that following one of the explosions, injured passengers were seen lying on the terminal floor. Twelve ambulances were dispatched to the scene. According to the French news agency AFP, the Houthis launched a missile toward the airport.

Meanwhile, a source speaking to AP reported that passengers were evacuated from the airport following the explosions. Another official said that incoming flights had been suspended. A Riyadh resident told the news agency that he had heard at least two explosions across the Saudi capital.

Escalating Conflict Between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis

The incident comes amid an intensifying military confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Over the past week, Riyadh's airport has reportedly been targeted in two separate attacks, which authorities say left four people dead. In an attack two days earlier, three people were killed, including a pilot. The Houthis claimed responsibility for that strike, saying they had launched two cruise missiles toward the airport.

Since hostilities escalated between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition, the airport has become one of the group's primary targets. The latest explosions have raised suspicions of another attack on the Saudi capital.

Houthis Accuse Saudi Arabia of Launching Hundreds of Airstrikes

On Friday, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that Saudi Arabia had carried out 77 airstrikes on Sanaa and other areas of Yemen over the preceding 24 hours.

According to Saree, Saudi Arabia has conducted a total of 1,934 strikes since the latest escalation began.

As of the report's publication, neither Saudi Arabia nor the Houthis had issued an official statement regarding the latest incident.
