The action followed an inspection conducted by Health Ministry inspectors and the municipal veterinarian for the Western Negev Eshkol region.
According to the ministry, the inspection revealed that the business was operating without the required licenses and under poor sanitary conditions. Inspectors also found that meat products were being processed in violation of regulations, including the freezing of fresh products, thawing of meat, and grinding and seasoning of meat.
In addition, products were found without manufacturer labels or expiration dates, in violation of the law and under conditions that could pose a risk to public health.
Following the findings, and on the orders of the district veterinarian, 53 kilograms (approximately 117 pounds) of beef products deemed unfit for human consumption were destroyed.
The Health Ministry warned that improper handling, storage, and sale of meat, poultry, and fish products can endanger public health.
In an official statement, the ministry said: "The handling, storage, and marketing of beef, poultry, and fish products without the conditions required by law may harm public health. Members of the public who purchased unlabeled or expired products at this business are asked not to consume them and to throw them away. The Health Ministry and local authorities will continue to take supervisory and enforcement measures in order to protect public health."
