Elbit Lands $200 Million Intelligence Deal With Asian Nation
Elbit Systems announced $200 million in new contracts to supply helicopter surveillance systems, pilot training technology, and advanced aircraft displays.
Elbit (Photo: Chaim Goldberg, Flash90)Israeli defense company Elbit Systems announced Monday that it has secured contracts worth approximately $200 million to supply intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and airborne training systems to an undisclosed country in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the company, the contracts will be carried out over a period of up to five years and include the supply of advanced intelligence-gathering equipment, aircraft training systems, and head-up displays.
As part of the agreements, Elbit will provide its Spectro XR systems, designed for intelligence, surveillance, and target acquisition (ISTAR) missions. The systems will be installed on helicopters and are intended to enhance their operational capabilities.
Spectro XR is a compact system that combines high-resolution multispectral sensors, advanced target acquisition technologies, including a laser designator, and artificial intelligence-based image processing. These capabilities enable the detection, identification, tracking, and engagement of targets at long distances, even in challenging operational environments and harsh weather conditions. The system was developed specifically for aircraft with strict limitations on size, weight, and power consumption.
The contracts also include ongoing maintenance, support, and upgrades for live training systems installed on aircraft. These systems allow pilots to participate in realistic virtual combat scenarios, including air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements, real-time combat simulations, damage assessments, and post-mission debriefings. The technology is designed to improve pilot readiness and training effectiveness.
In addition, Elbit will supply advanced head-up display systems for various airborne platforms. These feature high-resolution display technology, enhanced video capabilities, and low power consumption, allowing them to operate effectively during both daytime and nighttime missions.
The new agreements follow several major defense contracts Elbit has signed over the past year with countries in Europe and the United States.
Among the company's most recent deals is a $235 million contract to supply Azerbaijan with the EXTRA-MR medium-range rocket system. Under the agreement with the Azerbaijani government, Elbit will provide the medium-range version of its EXTRA supersonic rocket system, along with PULS launchers, additional rocket artillery platforms, and integrated logistical support.
