U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement on Wednesday addressing the results of Israel’s elections, claiming that his endorsement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had dramatically changed the course of the race.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “When the President endorsed Bibi Netanyahu, everything completely turned around. And now, instead of a decisive defeat for a great Prime Minister, it appears that, following a major comeback, there is a tie or even a victory for Netanyahu. All of this happened after President Trump’s endorsement, who wants only what is best for the Middle East, Israel, and the United States of America!”

Trump’s Endorsement Ahead of the Elections

Trump initially endorsed Netanyahu on Sunday, October 18, nine days before Israelis went to the polls. In a post published on Truth Social, the U.S. president expressed his full support for Netanyahu in the Knesset elections, praising his leadership and their cooperation in the military campaign against Iran.

Trump described Netanyahu as a strong wartime leader and a key partner in confronting the Iranian regime. He argued that the election of a different Israeli leader would force the United States to confront threats from Iran on its own, emphasizing that he did not want that outcome.

A Final Appeal to Israeli Voters

On Monday, just one day before the elections, Trump reposted his earlier endorsement and added a direct appeal to Israeli voters. “When you go to the polls, please remember that Bibi has been an extraordinary wartime Prime Minister,” Trump wrote, highlighting what he described as their shared achievements in the military campaign against Iran.

The American president concluded his message with an explicit call for Israelis to vote for Netanyahu, urging them to “finish the job” that the two leaders had begun in their efforts to confront Iran.

Trump’s latest remarks reflect his belief that his public endorsement played a significant role in Netanyahu’s apparent political comeback, although the extent of its influence on voters remains unclear.
