Is There a Need for Kosher Certification on Honey?

Hello,
Is there a concern regarding kosher status for honey? After all, it is just bee secretion.
There is no meat, milk, tithes, or orlah, etc.
Does honey need to be kosher? If I buy honey from a private individual who has bees and hives, does it require kosher certification? (He does not have certification because he is private and does not have a factory)
If I buy honey from abroad, does it need to be kosher?
