Why is it Forbidden to Look at the Moon

AA

Question

Why is it forbidden to look at the moon? Shouldn't we be amazed by Hashem's creation? What happens to a person who looks at the moon?

Answer

Shalom u'vracha,

The blemished moon hints at the Shechinah, which has been affected by our many sins. Gazing at the moon is akin to looking at the blemish of the Shechinah and its shame. Therefore, one should refrain from looking at the moon for extended periods. This is not a complete prohibition, but it is advisable to avoid it.

Best regards, - Binyamin Shmueli
