Is Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak a Rabbi or Not?

AA

Question

Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak refers to Rabbi Zamir Cohen as "the singer" and Rabbi Reuven Elbaz as "Rubi" and Rabbi David Yosef as "Dudi," etc. He claims, with justifications and evidence, against Shas and Aryeh Deri. He also proves from the Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh De'ah, Siman 45, that "one who belittles the mitzvot is like the lightest among the community" which applies to Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, who states that there is no need to check for worms in fruit. Additionally, he has claims against Rabbi Elbaz from the Rambam and asserts that Rabbi Yaakov Yosef was by his side, and Rabbi Ovadiah also wrote about him: "he spoiled his dish," due to his daughter Yehudit writing it down. There are videos of him with Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Steinman, and Rabbi Ovadiah before he wrote about him: "he spoiled his dish." The questions are: 1. Is Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak a Rabbi or not? 2. Does Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak make halachic rulings or not? 3. Does he speak slander, and is it forbidden to listen to him, or not? 4. Should we listen to what he says against other rabbis and praise the rabbis, or not? 5. Is it permitted at all to hear him or his sermons? 6. What should I do when people talk about him to me or with me, good or bad? 7. Is he called in halacha and in general a "Talmid Chacham" (Torah scholar)? 8. If I or anyone else strengthens from him or he brings me closer to the truth, both in the Torah and in faith, as well as in connection to parties, politics, kashrut, rabbis, and other matters, is it permitted for me to hear him speak and be persuaded? 9. How do we know who has the truth, whether he really speaks the truth or not, whether he is a Rabbi or not, and whether all the kashrut authorities he speaks about are genuinely not good, such as Machpud, Beit Yosef, and Atara? What should we do?

Answer

Hello and blessings,

Amnon Yitzchak is not a Rabbi, and it is forbidden to listen to his belittlement of the Gedolim of Israel. Maran Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef, zt"l, has already written that the aforementioned has spoiled his dish in public and instructed not to listen to his lectures.

One should not pay any attention to his words at all.

It is a falsehood that Amnon claimed that the Rabbi wrote what Yehudit wanted; the Rabbi himself has been heard countless times against Amnon.

Best of luck,

The Hidabroot Team
