How Many Days of Sheva Brachot Are There for a Divorced Man Marrying a Divorced Woman?
Question
Good evening, I wanted to clarify about a divorced man marrying a divorced woman: how many days of Sheva Brachot do they have? Thank you very much.
Answer
Greetings,
A divorced man marrying a divorced woman has only one day of Sheva Brachot, specifically the festive meal of the first day.
Sources: Refer to Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer (Siman 62, סעיף 6) where the same law applies to a widower marrying a widow—Sheva Brachot is recited only on the first day. It is clear that the same applies to a divorced man marrying a divorced woman. This is also mentioned in the Otzar HaPoskim there, citing the works of Pri HaAdamah, Chaim V'Chesed, and Pnei Yitzchak. Accordingly, it is ruled in Responsa Shevet Halevi, part 8 (Siman 278).
Additionally, see Chelkat Mechokek (there, סעיף 6) and Beit Shmuel (סעיף 5) that the reason a widower marrying a widow has only the first day is that it refers to the first festive meal alone. Thus, it stands that the same applies to a divorced man marrying a divorced woman as explained above.
