Regarding a Dream About Snakes
Question
Honorable Rabbi,
I dreamed twice in the same week about snakes. In the first dream, many snakes were crawling all around my house and yard. In the second dream, a huge, long, thick snake crawled into my house and chased a small animal. I wanted to know what this dream symbolizes and why the snake appears to me repeatedly in my dreams...
Thank you in advance.
Answer
Shavua tov. Although most dreams nowadays do not carry much significance, sometimes seeing a snake in a dream can hint at steady sustenance (especially when the dream recurs). As it is stated in Tractate Berachot (page 57a), "One who sees a snake in a dream, his livelihood is assured to him." Rashi explains this as a snake that has its bread in the dust and is found everywhere. Good tidings, Hillel Meirs
