Is it permitted for a bride and groom to attend a funeral condolence visit?

AA

Question

Hello, is it allowed during the first year of marriage to attend a funeral condolence visit, G-d forbid? I understood that during the first year of marriage it is forbidden to go. Is that correct? Thank you in advance.

Answer

Hello, It is permitted and even a mitzvah for a bride and groom to comfort mourners even during the first year of their marriage. Only on the first day of the seven days of the celebratory meal is it more appropriate not to attend condolence visits.
