Why Do We Say the Blessing Over the Lulav?
Question
Shalom honorable Rabbi, why is the mitzvah called specifically " Netilat lulav" and not, for example, "taking the four species"? Thank you.
Answer
Shalom,
The reason is that the lulav is taller than all the other species, and because of this significance, the entire bundle is named after it (Tractate Sukkah 37b, and Rashi there).
With blessing,
