Prayer and Blessings

Is Grace After Meals recited at Sheva Berachot, and is the blessing over the wine recited afterward as well?

AA

Question

Hello.
I would appreciate a brief explanation about the cup of wine for Sheva Berachot: Do we recite Grace After Meals and then also recite the blessing over the cup of wine, and then the text of the Sheva Berachot? If so, since the first blessing exempts the second as well, how is one able to recite it? And does the second cup also need to be given to the bride and groom from the cup of the one reciting the blessing after he has recited the blessing and tasted it?

Answer

Hello and blessings.

Two cups are poured before Grace After Meals, and Grace After Meals is recited over one cup. After Grace After Meals, the seven blessings are recited over the second cup, and then the blessing of Borei Pri Hagafen is recited again over the cup of Grace After Meals.

The one who recited the final blessing over the cup of the seven blessings should then also recite Borei Pri Hagafen and drink a little.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
