A Good Dream I Had
Question
Hello, Rabbi. I wanted to tell you about two dreams I had, and I wanted to know whether they have some kind of message. A few days ago I saw an interesting program by Rabbi Zamir Cohen about the interpretation of dreams. In the first dream, my father-in-law and mother-in-law appeared. They were packing baskets that looked like mishloach manot. In each basket there was a loaf of bread that was whole, but cut on the sides, still in a straight, beautiful rectangular shape. There was only one such loaf in each basket. They had two such baskets in their hands. They asked for my help so that I would help them pack them nicely as mishloach manot. I immediately agreed to pack them, but I remembered that there was another basket, a third basket, but the bread in it had fallen on the floor, and in the dream I was quite bothered by the fact that it was on the floor, so I did not want to pack it as mishloach manot. I also told them, my father-in-law and mother-in-law, that it had fallen and that it was not worthwhile. So they did not really speak to me about it, but it seemed that they agreed with me not to pack it either. Then the dream ended like that, as we continued packing the first two mishloach manot. And this time I came to help them, as they had asked. Is there some message here? Is it a good message? It is very important for me to know. I do not understand what the dream is saying... The second dream is quite interesting. It is important to note that yesterday, in real life, my sister was very upset because she thought and was sure that they would not accept her for the job. And I dreamed that she was reciting a prayer. She was saying Birkat Hamazon in my dream! Yet in real life my sister is secular. In the dream she prayed, and I was truly astonished and even happy in the dream. In the morning, when I woke up, I spoke with my sister, and she told me with great joy that she had been accepted for the new job! I feel that there is so much significance to this dream, because it is true that Birkat Hamazon is a segulah for success in livelihood! I actually got chills when I remembered the dream while she was telling me that she had been accepted for the job she so wanted. I told her about the dream, perhaps this would also strengthen her more in religion. Is what I think correct? Did I not just dream that she was reciting Birkat Hamazon? Is there perhaps another interpretation of my dream?
Answer
Hello and blessings,
All the dreams indicate the abundance of blessing that you are drawing down throughout your family and all those around you, בזכות your strengthening yourself and your success in observing the Torah and the mitzvot properly.
The dream about your sister also shows that the vessel to receive the blessing of livelihood will be through her taking upon herself to recite the blessing after meals, even though she is not privileged to observe the rest of the mitzvot.
With blessings,
Benjamin Shmueli
