Eating Poultry and Meat Outside the Land

AA

Question

I have been living outside the Land for more than five months now, and I am not eating meat here at all. Unfortunately, there is no Jewish supermarket here where I can buy kosher meat. What can I do?
I was thinking about buying chicken schnitzel and koshering it with salt and water. I would appreciate an answer, because it is not so healthy not to eat meat for such a long period of time.

Thank you.

Answer

Hello and blessings,

It is clear that this is absolutely forbidden. Chicken that was not slaughtered properly is a tereifah, and it is forbidden to eat it. Eat kosher fish until you return to the Holy Land. Or see how it is possible to have frozen kosher chicken sent to you from other areas.

Through properly observing kashrut, you will merit to be like Daniel and his companions, who refrained from eating non-kosher foods and looked healthier than all the others.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
