Question

Hello, Rabbi.

How is it that in Psalms, after it says the verse, "The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended," there are still psalms of David and additional psalms attributed to him?

Answer

Hello and blessings,

This is what the Metzudat David writes:

"Are ended" - the prayers of David were completed, for this psalm he said close to his death, at the time when he appointed Solomon as king, and he did not continue speaking further, and it was not written at the end of the book because he saw fit to complete the book with praises, because of the many laudations stated in them. The Malbim explains it this way as well.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
