Dreaming of a Former Boyfriend

AA

Question

Hello. First of all, thank you for the opportunity to ask a question here. The question is... Three years ago, I met the person who is now my husband. Until then, I was in a relationship with my previous boyfriend. We were together for two and a half years, and the relationship ended due to his betrayal. After a long time, we rekindled our connection, but we did not get back together. In the past year, I have been dreaming a lot about him, and I cannot understand why. Furthermore, many of the dreams take place in my mother's house, particularly in her bedroom. I would appreciate some explanation. Best regards, Dana

Answer

Hello,

As explained by our sages, one dream leads to another, with most dreams stemming from what one thinks about during the day. Thus, if you dream about something and then think about that dream during the day, if your thoughts are deep, it can trigger further dreams.

The advice is to distract your mind and not think about the dreams you are having about your ex-boyfriend until the dreams cease. There is a remedy for this: to join a prayer in the synagogue during the time of the Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) in order for the dreams about that ex to stop.

Additionally, there is another aspect to consider. According to books on this subject, what happens within the walls of a home is spiritually engraved into its walls. Therefore, it is advised when renovating a space that has been lived in by others in the past to seal and repaint the rooms anew, in order to "erase" what is marked on the walls, thus allowing for a fresh start. Since you likely spent time with your ex-boyfriend in your mother's home, this could be why thoughts of that experience arise when you visit, leading to dreams about him. To prevent this, it would be advisable to repaint that room, and most importantly, when you think about how good you feel in your current relationship, it will help eliminate thoughts and dreams about that ex.

Best of luck, – Menashe Yisrael
