I Dreamed About My Mother Being Pregnant Even Though She Can No Longer Be Pregnant

Question

Hello Rabbi,

I am a single, Orthodox girl preparing for my exams, and I had a dream that my mother was pregnant, even though she has older children and cannot have any more. What is the interpretation of this dream and can you provide sources?

Thank you.

Answer

To the questioner,

The matter of pregnancy also hints at themes of fulfillment and holiness, as our matriarch Rachel said: "Give me children, or else I die" (Genesis 30:1). A woman without children, God forbid, feels lacking and empty.

Therefore, a dream like this about your mother brings good tidings, indicating that she will receive, with God’s help, a positive influence that will bring her satisfaction and fulfillment.

Moreover, this influence is likely one of holiness, as it is known that while the fetus is in its mother’s womb, it studies Torah there (Babylonian Talmud Niddah 30b); thus, the fulfillment associated with pregnancy specifically hints at fulfillment in matters of holiness.

May it be God's will that your mother merits to be filled in her life with good studies and words of holiness, and that this will bring blessings to the entire family.

With blessings,

Rabbi Nachum
