Peter Magyar

President Isaac Herzog heads to Budapest tomorrow for his first diplomatic visit since the removal of longtime Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. In the background: the new government's intention to rejoin the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which Orban pulled Hungary out of.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced that he plans to meet tomorrow with Hungarian-Jewish chess legend Judit Polgár and offer her the position of president of Hungary. It is not yet clear whether she will accept the offer.

Hungary's state television suspended its news broadcasts and aired an on-screen apology after the new government replaced the broadcaster's leadership.

Peter Magyar says he won’t automatically block EU decisions on Israel, promises zero tolerance for antisemitism, and plans to rejoin the International Criminal Court; Netanyahu congratulates him and thanks outgoing Viktor Orban.

A political earthquake in Hungary: the opposition led by Peter Magyar wins 138 of 199 seats—more than two-thirds—ending Viktor Orbán’s 16-year rule. The former prime minister concedes: "We will continue to serve our homeland and the Hungarian people even from the opposition... 2.5 million voters will not be abandoned. We never give up."
