Ben-Gurion Airport (Archive photo: Nati Shohat, Flash90)Senior aviation industry professionals reached out today (Sunday) to Transportation Minister Miri Regev and demanded that she order an immediate shutdown of Ben-Gurion Airport. This was reported by Channel 13 News.
The professionals' recommendation comes amid the relentless barrage of launches from Iran and Lebanon. According to the report, the decisive discussion on the matter is expected to take place tonight. The discussion will include Civil Aviation Authority head Shmuelik Zakai and Airports Authority CEO Sharon Kedmi.
It should be noted that about 10,000 passengers currently pass through Ben-Gurion each day, but professional ranks believe that the security situation requires moving to a complete airspace closure - except for essential flights approved in advance.
