To understand this, scientists measure something called “Critical Flicker Fusion Frequency.” This refers to how quickly an animal can detect flashes of light before they appear as one continuous signal.

Animals with higher sensitivity can detect more rapid changes in their environment. What looks like a blur to us may appear as a series of clear, separate moments to them.

This means that when you try to swat a fly, it may already be reacting to your movement long before you complete it.
