Chanukah is a holiday of light and joy, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with family and create new memories. Shared family activities strengthen the bonds at home and allow everyone, from young to old, to enjoy time together. We’ve gathered a variety of fun, creative, and enriching ideas you can try this year. These activities are suitable for all ages and promise a special experience.

Dreidel Craft Workshop
Make dreidels together using recycled materials or modeling clay. For those who prefer an easier option, you can buy simple DIY dreidel kits for just a few dollars. Each person can design their dreidel according to their personal style. It’s a creative activity that brings a real sense of accomplishment — especially if you manage to create a dreidel you can actually spin and play with.

Donut Decorating Night
Using plain donuts from a nearby bakery or supermarket, you can create a fantastic activity. Give each family member a donut and set out a variety of fillings, spreads, and colorful toppings on the table. Everyone gets to fill and decorate their donut however they like. You can even turn it into a friendly family competition. This is a particularly fun and much-loved activity.

Family Chanukah Show
Put together a Chanukah performance where each family member has a role, or let the kids create their own fun Chanukah play. Children often take this very seriously, so let them enjoy the process and help them with costumes and props. Fun is guaranteed.

“Miracle Night”
After lighting the candles, each family member shares one miracle they experienced in the past year, and one miracle they hope will happen soon. Write these wishes on special notes and place them in the menorah until next year. Younger children who can’t write can draw their wishes and ask adults to help write them down.

Family Chanukah Trivia Game
Create a family quiz about Chanukah. Prepare questions at different levels on topics such as the history of the holiday, customs, songs, and laws. You can divide into two teams or compete individually. Prepare small prizes in advance for the winners, such as dreidels or chocolate coins. It’s a fun way to learn about the holiday and connect as a family.
