Police Stop Van With Fake Palestinian Plate Hauling 20 Kids Near Gush Etzion

On Route 60 near the Elazar Junction, traffic officers stopped a transport van for a routine check and say the 20-year-old Husan resident behind the wheel lacked the proper license for the vehicle and passenger load. Inspectors found the van is Israeli-registered with a forged Palestinian plate; his license was immediately suspended and the vehicle impounded for 30 days.

Traffic Division officers operating yesterday (Wednesday) on Route 60, near the Elazar Junction in Gush Etzion, stopped a transport van for a routine check that was bearing a Palestinian license plate. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officers discovered that the driver was transporting 20 children in violation of safety regulations.

Checking the driver's identity—a 20-year-old resident of Husan—revealed that he did not hold a driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle and the number of passengers on board. At the same time, a technical inspection of the vehicle indicated that it was registered in Israel and had been fitted with a forged Palestinian license plate, apparently to mislead law-enforcement authorities.

A traffic enforcement proceeding was opened against the driver, including a hearing conducted by a police officer. At the conclusion of the hearing, it was decided to immediately suspend the suspect's driver's license and impound the vehicle for 30 days.
