The London-based newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" reported today (Monday) that Mohammed Oudeh has been appointed commander of Hamas’s military wing, replacing Izz al-Din al-Haddad, who was eliminated by Israel over the weekend. On October 7, Oudeh served as head of military intelligence in Hamas’s military wing. Today, he is the last remaining senior Hamas figure who planned the massacre in the communities near Gaza.

According to the report, after the elimination of Mohammed Sinwar, who had replaced Mohammed Deif, Oudeh was offered the chance to lead the military wing but refused. Now, after al-Haddad’s elimination, he has agreed to take the role.

Oudeh was one of al-Haddad’s close associates and worked with him on rebuilding the organizational structure of the military wing following the eliminations of Mohammed Deif and Mohammed Sinwar. Oudeh was responsible for gathering intelligence on some IDF bases near Gaza ahead of the raid on the area. He was also among those who benefited from espionage devices seized during the thwarting of a covert IDF operation in Gaza in 2018.

As previously reported, so far the IDF and the ISA have eliminated, from the list of senior Hamas figures who planned the massacre, Yahya Sinwar, head of the Hamas movement; Mohammed Deif, head of Hamas’s military wing; Mohammed Sinwar, deputy head of the military wing; Marwan Issa, deputy commander-in-chief; and Ra’ad Sa’ad, head of Hamas operations.

Also eliminated were Ahmed al-Ghandour, commander of the northern Gaza brigade; Ayman Nofal, commander of the central brigade; Rafa Salama, commander of the Khan Younis brigade; Mohammed Shabana, commander of the Rafah brigade; Ra’ad Thabet, head of the supply array; Ghazi Abu Tama’a, head of combat support; Ayman Siam, commander of the rocket array; and Abu Obeida - Hudhaifa Samir Abdullah al-Kahlout - Hamas’s former military spokesperson.
