According to that official, the strikes targeted a military facility that posed a danger both to American forces and to the movement of commercial ships in the area. The official also said that the U.S. military "intercepted and shot down several Iranian drones."
Iran’s Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, reported, citing an unidentified military source, that American forces fired at areas near the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. According to the report, the shooting took place after the Revolutionary Guards confronted "an American oil tanker that tried to pass through the Strait of Hormuz."
According to the Iranian report, the confrontation took place along the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, and it was followed by the American strike on areas near Bandar Abbas. Tehran has not yet issued a detailed official statement on the extent of the damage or the results of the strike.
At 5:00, Kuwait’s military announced that the country "is facing a missile and drone attack on our territory." A short time later, sirens were heard in the country, and local authorities confirmed that an alert had been activated בעקבות a missile and unmanned aerial vehicle attack.
After the sirens in Kuwait, the Revolutionary Guards released a statement claiming that they had attacked the American base from which, they said, the overnight strike in Iran was launched. The statement said that Washington "will bear the consequences," and that "responsibility for the attack lies with the aggressor."
