Starting today (Tuesday) at 4:00 p.m., the protected response time in 161 communities in northern Israel, in the Haifa, Krayot, and Carmel areas, will be extended from 60 to 90 seconds. The decision was made following a professional review conducted by the Home Front Command, with the goal of improving residents’ protection and preparedness when an alert is received.

The Home Front Command said that for this move, an expert team was established to examine all of the criteria and operational considerations, and it led a series of operational and technological adjustments that made it possible to extend the response time.

The commander of the Home Front Command emphasized: "We are continuing to invest significant effort in learning, drawing conclusions, and improving the response for civilians, מתוך the understanding that extending protected response times may save lives."

The move was presented to the heads of the relevant local authorities and is expected to take effect immediately. The Home Front Command clarified that it will continue examining the possibility of updating the response times in additional areas as well, in accordance with operational capabilities and conditions.
