The meeting between the two was arranged by Martin Marks, the White House’s director of government relations with the Jewish community.
For Breslavski, this was his first visit to the White House, after choosing not to join the delegation of former hostages that visited Washington in November 2025. At the time, it was reported that he canceled his participation because of his mental state after his release, amid post-trauma and concern that a long flight and waiting in lines would trigger him.
After the meeting with Trump, Breslavski shared a personal message on social media expressing his appreciation for the American president. "Mr. Donald Trump, you’re the man who pulled me out of the hell of 738 days in captivity. You are my hero. May God bless you, may God bless America. Thank you very much, Trump."
He later posted an additional response: "I met in the Oval Office with U.S. President Donald Trump for a very long meeting of a full ten minutes. Very, very emotional."
Breslavski was kidnapped from the Nova festival during the October 7 attack and was held for nearly two years in Islamic Jihad captivity in the Gaza Strip. After his release, he became one of the most prominent former hostages to publicly reveal the harsh conditions the captives endured and the challenges that continue to follow them even after returning to Israel. Since his release, he has frequently shared with the public his struggle with trauma and the rehabilitation process he is going through.
