West Bank Crossing Incident: Palestinian Suspect Shot After Allegedly Trying to Run Over Police
A Palestinian suspect allegedly tried to hit police officers at the Hashmonaim Crossing. Police said he was driving a stolen vehicle and was attempting to flee toward the Judea and Samaria area. Meanwhile, soldiers from the Yahalom unit destroyed 18 lathes used to manufacture weapons, which were found in Balata camp and in Ras al-Ayn.

Hashmonaim Crossing (Photo: Flash90)Police spokespersons said this morning (Tuesday) that a Palestinian suspect broke through the police checkpoint at the Hashmonaim Crossing, struck police vehicles, and also allegedly tried to run over officers at the scene. The officers securing the checkpoint said they felt their lives were in danger and opened fire at the vehicle, which was then stopped.
According to police, the vehicle was stolen and was making its way to the Hashmonaim Crossing, where police forces had positioned themselves to stop it. The Palestinian suspect, a resident of Bethlehem, was transferred for further medical treatment.

At the same time, the IDF spokesperson said that soldiers from the Yahalom unit destroyed 18 lathes used to manufacture weapons. The lathes were found in buildings in Balata camp and in Ras al-Ayn, in the Shomron Brigade. During the operation by Yahalom soldiers and forces from Reserve Battalion 967, weapons and explosive devices were found in the heart of a civilian area.
