Ingredients
- 7 to 8 chicken leg quarters
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon silan (date syrup)
- 3 to 4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- Black pepper, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Oil, for cooking
Optional:
- Potatoes, diced
- Additional onion wedges
Directions
Heat a little oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions and cook until soft, golden, and lightly caramelized.
Stir in the silan, garlic, sweet paprika, and water. Cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
Add the chicken pieces and brown them lightly on both sides.
Pour in the teriyaki sauce and season with salt and black pepper.
If desired, add diced potatoes and extra onion wedges around the chicken.
Cover and cook over low heat for about 1 hour, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked through.
Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds just before serving.
