Making donuts with a surprise filling is always fun — especially when they require only three basic ingredients! A creative filling can transform an ordinary donut into a festive treat. Try filling them with strawberry jam or a cinnamon-sugar mixture for a delicious and unexpected twist.
Ingredients
1 package ready-made puff pastry
Strawberry jam or a cinnamon-sugar mixture
Oil for frying
Instructions
Heat oil in a deep pot or deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
Cut the puff pastry into squares approximately 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).
Place a spoonful of strawberry jam in the center of each square.
Fold the pastry over the filling and gently press the edges to seal.
Fry each pastry donut in the hot oil until puffed and golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
The result is a crispy, sweet pastry with a delicious surprise center that makes every bite extra special.
Alternative Version: Puff Pastry Donut Sticks
Another option is to cut the puff pastry into wide strips and fry them in deep oil until golden on both sides.
After frying, coat each pastry stick in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, or serve with strawberry jam for dipping, according to your taste.
