A homeowner in Illinois was filming an approaching storm when a powerful tornado suddenly struck, tearing apart his house while he was still inside.

The dramatic video captures the terrifying moment a powerful tornado slams directly into a home, ripping away the roof and reducing much of the structure to rubble within seconds, while the homeowner is still inside.
The homeowner, Trevor Kraka, was standing in his house in Effingham, Illinois, documenting the approaching storm from a window. He sent the video to a friend to show the intensity of the weather, never imagining that he was about to record one of the most frightening experiences of his life.
A House Destroyed in Seconds
At first, a deafening roar can be heard in the background as the tornado approaches.
Within moments, the walls begin to shake violently. The windows shatter, and the roof is torn away directly above Kraka's head. What began as a simple weather recording quickly turned into a firsthand account of a natural disaster unfolding in real time.
Seconds later, the camera reveals the devastating aftermath. The home is heavily damaged, debris is scattered everywhere, and Kraka is left with bloody scratches on his arm.
"Oh Hashem, I'm Okay"
Despite the extensive destruction, Kraka survived the tornado.
After the storm passed, he stood among the ruins of his home, visibly shaken as he tried to comprehend what had just happened.
According to reports in the American media, Kraka expressed gratitude to Hashem for surviving and said he could not understand how he had escaped with only minor injuries.
"What exactly happened here?" he is heard saying in the video with a trembling voice.
"Am I okay? Oh Hashem, I'm okay. The house flew, it just flew into the air."
The footage has drawn widespread attention online, with many viewers expressing amazement that Kraka survived such a powerful tornado and walked away from the disaster almost unharmed.
