According to the IDF, Da'amash oversaw various training programs, with a particular focus on preparing Hamas's Nukhba force in the years leading up to the October 7 massacre. The military said he was also involved in directing combat operations against IDF forces in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF added that in recent days Da'amash had been advancing additional terror plans and working to help restore Hamas's operational capabilities. He was identified as a threat to Israeli forces operating in Gaza and was targeted in the airstrike.
Earlier today, reports from Gaza claimed that four people were killed and about 16 others were wounded in Israeli strikes. The IDF has not commented on those specific reports.
The military did note, however, that over the weekend it struck five terrorists who were attempting to restore underground terror infrastructure in northern Gaza, west of the Yellow Line. According to the IDF, the strike killed Hudhaifa Hussein Abdullah al-Khawagri, a Nukhba operative in Hamas's East Jabalia Battalion, while additional terrorists were also hit.
