Channel 14 News reported today (Monday) that the Im Tirtzu movement has sent a letter to Israel Police legal adviser Eran Nahon, calling on the police to formulate their response to the High Court in the "Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi case" independently, without any involvement from Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.

The request follows a High Court petition filed by MK Avichai Boaron and the Lavi Organization, which asks Israel Police Commissioner Daniel Levy to explain why the attorney general has not been investigated on suspicion of fraud and breach of trust over alleged conduct involving a conflict of interest and concealment of information. The petition also asks why the commissioner has not yet responded to multiple requests submitted on the matter.

According to the letter, the attorney general is barred from handling the case based on a legal opinion issued by attorney Yael Kotik of the Justice Ministry's legal adviser's office. The opinion concluded that because of the attorney general's possible connection to an investigation into alleged leaks, she is disqualified from any involvement in the matter.
