Israel's Health Ministry today (Tuesday) issued a swimming advisory for six beaches at the Sea of Galilee after routine water quality tests detected unusual microbiological contamination. The public is being urged to avoid entering the water at the affected beaches until further notice.

The beaches included in the advisory are Kursi, Halukim, Susita, Raqat, Mykonos (Paralia), and the Nof Ginosar Hotel beach.

In its statement, the Health Ministry said the advisory was issued "following the receipt of unusual microbiological results found in water quality tests." The ministry explained that such findings indicate contamination that could pose a health risk to swimmers.

The Health Ministry said the advisory will remain in effect until follow-up testing confirms that water quality has returned to normal.

"The ministry continues to monitor the situation and reminds the public that swimming is permitted only at officially designated beaches," the statement said.
