Israel on Alert: Health System Prepares as Iran Threatens Britain

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a warning this afternoon (Thursday) to the British government: "Any base used for an attack against Iranian territory is a legitimate target for us. We warn the British regime, which is the main cause of the suffering of the people in our region: do not further worsen your record." The threat was published after it became known that American bombers had taken off from Britain to the Middle East.

The British government spokesperson responded to the threat: "Our armed forces are ready to defend Britain against any kind of attack. Britain is ready 24/7 to defend itself, while working closely with our allies in NATO." 

Meanwhile, France announced today that it had instructed its staff to evacuate the embassy in Tehran. The French directive joins a similar instruction issued by Britain, which also added a travel warning for countries in the Middle East.

In Israel, meanwhile, the Health Ministry announced, against the backdrop of the security tensions, that "the health system is prepared for all possible scenarios of security escalation. The Health Ministry is conducting ongoing situation assessments and continuously reviewing the overall picture."

The statement said: "Today, the Supreme Hospitalization Authority held a discussion in order to ensure that the health system is prepared for all scenarios of security escalation and is maintaining ongoing communication with all hospitals and health funds. If instructions or updates for the public are needed, the Health Ministry will provide continuous updates."
