According to the Reuters/Ipsos poll, four out of five Americans believe U.S. military involvement in Iran will continue for a long time. A total of 79% of respondents said they expect the conflict to be prolonged, compared with 65% at the end of March.
Only 18% said they believe the war will end "very quickly, within a few weeks." About 37% of respondents supported the renewed U.S. strikes on Iran, which Washington said were launched in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Recent polls in Israel have also examined public attitudes toward the war in the Persian Gulf. In a survey published last month by the Institute for National Security Studies, 66% of Israelis said the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran was bad for Israel.
The poll also found that 41% believe Israel's security situation worsened after Operation "Roar of the Lion," compared with 26% who said it improved. In addition, 68% believe Israel will need to renew the war against Iran within the coming year, while 54% think it will be able to do so.
