Shots Fired at Jewish Bakery Chain Locations in Canada

Toronto police are investigating two antisemitic incidents that took place overnight at two locations of the Jewish bakery chain Kiva's Bagel Bar. Both locations were targeted in separate shootings a short time apart. At one location, police reported damage to a building window, and in the second incident, a window was shattered. No one was hurt.

Toronto police said they are examining whether there is a connection between the two incidents and are working to locate the suspects. The hate crimes unit is also taking part in the investigation.

Following the incidents, B'nai Brith Canada released a statement saying the attacks are part of a growing and worsening wave of antisemitism in the country. According to the organization, the attacks fit into a broader trend of violent extremism in Canada, which they say is fueled by "anti-Zionist rhetoric, local criminal elements, Iran-backed proxies, and ISIS-inspired terror."

The organization called on Canada's leaders to condemn the attacks unequivocally, ensure protection for the Jewish community and its institutions, and establish a federal commission of inquiry to examine the rise in antisemitic incidents across the country.

According to the organization's data, since the beginning of 2026 through the middle of the month, 27 violent incidents with an antisemitic motive have been documented in Canada—more than double the number of violent incidents recorded in all of 2025, when only 10 cases were documented.
